The lone fishing boat heading out of port in order to be home for the holidays looks cold and alone; yet, the fishermen do love their work.
Another day ~ a new day ~ yet dreary and cloudy here in this little seaport town. Winter tends to be grey or white ~ It is ‘the way it is.’ So have lighted the candles in the window, along with our little tree, with the ‘fairy lights’ so powerfully beautiful for the Holidays to bring the light into our home to brighten our day.
Candles are always bring an added pleasure to the house day or night. Electric candle, yet serves the purpose. Did you know scented candles are not suppose to be unhealthy?
Little Tree so bright and strong.
Wonder how your holiday is coming along? Are you into the ‘mad rush’ or serene and at peace, which is what the holiday is about really. ‘Peace on Earth’ ~ we can only hope.
On the New Editor in Word Press ~ another new adventure ~ Oh Boy! Can’t wait to learn more technology ~ ‘ I am too young for all this.’ So why I am doing this? If I am not learning, I would be dead. I am alive and want to develop my potential to the best of my ability. Precious moments that fly by in a ‘blink’ What do you think?
Right now I am reflecting on Word Press and whether I like this approach or not ~ Always a learning curve ~ yet always good to be learning ~ learning is creative as well as the arts such as photography, painting, music, writing ~ Creativity is in all of us and many choose to not see it, I guess.
Moving forward ~ writing allows me time to reflect and be. Flowing with the now and enjoying the music in the background and the warm cutie dog beside me. After I have been out a bit for the day she is always so happy to have me back home and wants to’snuggle’ close. I enjoy her company and love her so much. Sometimes, especially in winter, I have to really push myself out the door to do things with friends, family and fellow artists. Then there is always the usual ‘errands’ we all need to do.
Life can be as simple or as complex as you would like. Do you enjoy complexity, simplicity or an equal balance of both or do you get bored with simplicity? I think Simplicity is beautiful ~ also enjoy a healthy dose at times of complexity.
I find myself reflecting on this recent past holiday. The United States is big on holidays and sometimes they become too commercially focused. Things, stuff, rather than the importance of people, pets and nature which is really what is important. Without the people, pets and a healthy environment, life loses its richness.
Consequently, I am grateful each morning for my good health, my dog, my family and friends. Because of death of loved ones, I have cleaned out one too many houses and thus, now wonder and reflect on, ‘why did I or someone else’ think they needed so many ‘things’ in their house, apartment, townhouse. I can’t take anything with me when I leave this planet and don’t really need much to live ~ Pets, people and nature.
Wonder what you think? Or does it not matter to you? Maybe you are busy shopping and that’s okay too.
Reflecting daily and this photo speaks to me of the balance of light in my life, the subtleties of life, the depth of each moment. I am a human who is being ‘in the light’. Sometimes I am very conscious and ‘in the moment’ ~ photography certainly allows me to be in that ‘moment’ and realizing how fleeting the moment is. To meditate on what I see through the lens and then to ‘click’ and have a visual to reflect back to me. Life, the gift of precious moments.
Seem to be in a ‘transitional state’ ~ reflecting on moving forward, yet, before I do so I need to be more like my ‘little assistant’ below and explore the territory and weed out what is unnecessary (like her dry food ~ she will eat the cooked chicken and then literally toss the dry food out of her dish). Much like weeding the chaff from the wheat, I think. It is all an ongoing process. So I continue to explore with my photography and haiku. Painting on silk is what I have just started to learn and am sure it will also teach me much about myself. Ever experience these types of feelings? I bet you have. Want to share?
My blog is lacking a little color so am adding this for one of my ‘sharings’ ~ I always love the old dead tree still standing amongst the healthy growth. Of course ~ the ocean is a deep blue and the sky another shade of beautiful blue. Sharing with:
