THROUGH THE LENS 30

Through the lens provides me time to enjoy the beauty of the moment. Always a wonderful feeling to ‘be’ in the ‘now.’

(scroll down for link you want as I add photos and haiku frequently all week and weekend) thanks!

My blog is lacking a little color so am adding this for one of my ‘sharings’ ~ I always love the old dead tree still standing amongst the healthy growth. Of course ~ the ocean is a deep blue and the sky another shade of beautiful blue. Sharing with:

Reflection Week

‘I wonder as I wander’

Cape Ann MA ~ an ‘island unto itself’ ~ Above is the Fishermen’s Wives Monument, a memorial, to all those husbands who died at sea fishing the vast ocean.

I wonder what they thought as they went out to sea for days in all kinds of weather. It was a high price to pay for doing what many of them reportedly seemed to cherish, roaming the seas for fish to bring home to sell, a way to make their living. Now, there are few fishing boats and few men or women to troll the ocean.

I wonder as I wander this earth what has happened to the peoples of the world in  this 21st century. Technology seems to be paramount and relationships, men, women, children, animals are growing further apart each day? Is our world ‘fished out’ like the ocean? Was Orwell right – ‘it’s a brave new world’. Go fish.

Through the lens Cape Ann MA  ~ cold, cold, cold! Tis January and in August it will be hot, hot, hot. Weather, mother nature, day by day how it can effect one’s being. Walks in the cold air are invigorating and not real conducive to photographing; yet, beauty abounds and hands are numb yet the photo is produced.

The light has changed on Cape Ann MA ~ how does one describe the light ~ perhaps you can see it in this photo. Since, at least 6 years old, if not before, I have been a  ‘seeker’ and now know the light, the energy, the spirit is all within and around me. Even you the reader are connected ~ We are all connected. And I am rambling ~ Peace and heart light to you ~ namaste, xxx

A Moment Through the Lens

satcrit12414

As Minor White,  photographer until his death in 1976,  is once quoted as saying ‘No matter how slow the film Spirit stands still long enough for the photographer it has chosen.’

I do believe that this random ‘visitor’ to my deck has ‘posed’ sometimes for me until I got the creative shot I wanted. As a student of Taoism, I feel that even inanimate objects have spirit energy. Certainly, this beautiful Cape Ann MA gull has a strong Spirit.

I think that the former owner of my home used to feed him and leave water ~ I no longer do so and sometimes feel badly but having a little dog that likes to chase it away and there being many sea gulls ‘in town’ don’t want to get into the habit of feeding. Yet, the gull continues to come for brief visits; well onto five years now. Didn’t think that gulls ‘shape  shifted’ but perhaps they do and it is a ‘Spirit’ watching over me. Isn’t that a lovely thought? Hmm, Life is filled with essence and surprises and gifts. This gull is a gift.

Wishing you many spiritual gifts each moment. xxx

An Artist’s Relections

Through the lens allows time to ‘be in the moment’ much like a butterfly.

Keeping life  ‘simply, sincerely and slowly.

Many get caught in the ‘mid way’ with all the conforming attractions.

Being more selective helps keep one more focused and being in the now.

Be like the fishes ~ they know they are a fish ~ be who you are.

Reflecting through the Lens and Haiku

I find myself, my higher self through the lens of the camera and writing haiku. My companion is my sweet precocious yorkie ~ Here she is:

She loves the beach and ever alert to what is surrounding her ~ Can we be more like animals ~ enjoying the simple sacred pleasures of the now. I wonder. I am trying. I am learning to slow down, let go, let be, and have an attitude of gratitude ~

SURVIVOR

Edenton NC
                       SURVIVOR

Reflection on nature’s survivors. This tree as you can see is growing out of the water. It is not a swamp. It is a magnificent bay area in the northern part of North Carolina. I can relate.

haiku

from depths of flowing water bay

to reach the skies above.

Carol L McKenna

I wonder what the history is of this tree and will probably do some research to find out. Did this area get flooded long ago and the tree survived? How long ago? Time has a way of moving on and dancing to its own tune.

Going to ‘dance to my own tune’ today and enjoy the time.

Hugs and namaste,
